The origins of Solovair - In 1881 five men from Wollaston, England, joined together to form a worker's co-operative called the Northamptonshire Productive Society (NPS). They started to make boots for the UK Army. With a quickly grewing reputation, they made themselves well known all over the world and started to sell their shoes and boots international.
Always Made in England, the famous standards of the NPS Shoes factory has secured the Solovair footwear a reputation with discerning customers as a premium footwear product. At Solovair they continue to remain true to their founders' ideals, combining over 130 years of craftsmanship with the latest manufacturing technology and superior components in order to produce high quality shoes and boots.
In the 1950s, the Austrian Dr. Maerten (subsequently anglicised to Dr. Marten) developed the famous Air Cushion Sole.
For over 30 years Solovair boots and shoes were produced with Maertens unbreakable Air Cushion Sole as a part of an entire shoes and boots collection, leading to the brands name Solovair (Sole-of-Air).
To maintain an undisputed standard of quality, Solovair products will always remain handmade from the first touch to the final boot in England, taking pride in manufacturing it with traditional craftsmanship.
