Hailed as one of Great Britains cult designer, Nigel Cabourn has left his trace after working the industry for over forty years. Cabourns main demand was to producing collections, which are not influenced by ‘fashion’ and short-lived so called trends. Nigel Cabourn always feels driven by inspirational stories of real people in history and vintage military, outdoor and work wear pieces.

Showing his first own collection was a big impact on the market and customers minds, menswear felt like being redefined. Everest was the big theme and motivation of the collection, the symbolic legacy of George Mallory, Sir Edmund Hillary and sherpa Tensing Norgay were Cabourns inspiration.

Nigel Cabourn opened his first standalone UK and European flagship store in London in 2014, right in the heart of Covent Garden. The Army Gym was born, Nigel Cabourns very own retail concept. Soon  The Army Gym was introduced to the capital from Japan, with currently six stores across the country. In Japan Nigel Cabourn first offered the Authentic Collection, made in the UK, Japanese lines and alongside a selection of collaboration’s.

Nigel Cabourn has a long history and a close affinity with Japan. The brand has built a loyal following there since the 1980’s and Nigel is much revered as a first class designer and collector of rare vintage sports, outdoor and military clothing.The flagship store in Naka-Meguro, Tokyo called Nigel Cabourn THE ARMY GYM is designed to look like an old army gymnasium. A small and beautiful shop has been a great success since its first day, and soon moved to a much larger space nearby.

Today we look at a range of classics in the collection, a line of successful collaborations and Cabourns endless motivation to create signature styles of his very own authenticity.
