SWISS 1862 - The history of MAMMUT
In the year 1862, when young Kaspar Tanner finished his 3-year roper ecducation with success. it wasn't already fixed that in the future brands like Barryvox, Gore-Tex, Snowpulse and Fürst amongst others were supposed to be part of the MAMMUT Sports Group.
Kaspar Tanner worked in Germany before he started to earn his bread as a roper in Swiss Dintikon. That time of Kaspars life and working around the Swis Canton Aargau marks the birth of MAMMUT.
MAMMUTS attention as a alpine oriented company was focused on hardgoods and the core business in developing and manufacturing ropes.
From 1978 the MAMMUT collection Altitude showed jackets and pants in collaboration with Gore-Tex. In 1981 the first MAMMUT apparel collection was launched and in 1984 the revolution of alpine clothing took place, whem MAMMUT and Schoeller presented the Softshell Pant for climbers and maountaineers. The softshell concept soon conquered even the most conservative alpine partys and the woolen pant became history.
In 1995 MAMMUT Extreme marks the change from being a a well reputated hartgoods brand over to a total outfitter and reference of function and design in collaboration with the top alpine characters and professionals. MAMMUT products are developed to be the leading benchmark in high-end funktionaliy and quality. The characteristic orange-blue coloring becomes identification of the brand.
With the Eiger Extreme collection from 1917 MAMMUT defines the standard of modern mountaineer clothing in active accompany of alpine mountain sports.
2019 MAMMUT launched the urban high-end collection Delta X and shows performance-oriented products on base of more than 150 years of outdoor experience.
MAMMUT Delta X combines technical and functional styles and designs with urban demand. An evolution of the brand from mountain to the city. The MAMMUT DNS changes mountaineering into urbaneering to meet an active and sustainable lifestyle.
